Posted August 19th, 2010 in Corporate News by Employee

Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Co., Inc., celebrated its 47th year last February 18, 2010 with the theme, “Your partner for 47 years, your partner for life”. The grand party was held at the Pavilion A of the Wack Wack Golf & Country Club in Mandaluyong City.

The party was graced by Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who came for cocktails. Clad in an elegant aqua blue dress, the Chief Executive was welcomed by no less than our chairman, Daniel M. Mercado, Jr., President & CEO Gregorio D. Mercado, Insurance Commissioner Santiago Ranada, Insurance Commission Deputy Commissioner Vida Chiong, Undersecretary Renato L. Ebarle of the Presidential Management Staff, Philippine Life Insurance Association (PLIA) President Mabini Juan, PLIA past president for 2009 Vic Quisumbing and other Philippine Prudential Life officers.

The party served as a fitting gesture of gratitude to the outgoing leader for her staunch support to the life insurance industry, especially on the lowering of premium taxes.

President & CEO Gregorio D. Mercado began the program with an inspiring message on the company’s achievements for the previous year, most notably our robust sales growth of over 40%, our inclusion into the elite “Superbrands” affiliation and how we withstood the global financial crisis without depleting resources and affecting our manpower.

“Total premiums surpassed P684 million; total assets topped P554 million pesos; total amount of claims paid is more than P82 million; and we have more than P282-million worth of reserves,” he noted.

“By the grace of GOD, we survived. We stood tall. We were triumphant. In the face of trials, we prevailed,” he added.

Insurance Commission Deputy Commissioner Vida Chiong delivered a congratulatory speech, lauding Philippine Prudential Life for its achievements.

The highlight of the night was when our EVP for Sales & Marketing, Mr. Mandy Mercado, awarded 2009’s top sales performers and the launching of its new direct marketing plan, the “Smart College Protector Plan,” a college educational plan for kids up to age 10 that is designed to provide a fixed amount of money when he or she reaches the age of 17.

With such accomplishments and many more lined up for the year, it is certainly no surprise that Philippine Prudential Life has solidified its position as one of the fastest growing life insurance companies in the country today.
